A custom app is built for one store, yours, and installed directly without App Store review. A public app is listed on the Shopify App Store for many merchants, and needs OAuth, the Billing API and Shopify's app review.
No. Custom apps work on every plan. The one exception: a custom app that uses Shopify Functions (custom discount, delivery or payment logic) needs Shopify Plus. The same logic delivered through a public app works on any plan.
Often, yes. If you run three or four apps to achieve one workflow, we can usually fold that into fewer native features or one custom app, cutting monthly cost and page weight.
Yes. For public apps we handle the technical requirements for Shopify's review, such as the Billing API, privacy webhooks and security, and guide you through submission. Final approval timing is up to Shopify's review team.
You do. The code, repository and hosting accounts are yours, and we document the app so another developer can maintain it.
